These days at work Joe is finding he has to surpress fits of giggles on a recurring basis.
Yesterday during a meeting about pay awards he was told that anyone could nominate a colleague for a pay award, annonymously, and that line managers would then approve or reject the application. Joe imagines a line manager who consistently and anonymously nominates all their staff for a pay award only to then reject all the applications in a repeating pattern of a joke so personal that no one really finds it funny. Except Joe, who has to apologise to others for the small outbursts of lughter that punctuate the otherwise sombre meeting.
Today, while making tea, the orange-for-a-head joke floats around his mind, probing for ticklish spots and nearly succeeding whilst Joe carries his cuppa back to his desk. Try explaining that one; ‘well, I spilt my tea everywhere because I told myself a joke and found it very very funny’ -you will get strange looks.
Anyways… the orange-for-a-head joke is, perhaps, the single funniest joke that there is and a very good barometer of the tastes and predilections of every single person on the planet. If you find it uncontrollably funny then, congratulations, you have a wonderful sense of humour and I am sure we would get on just fine.
