Ummm, complete bombardment of bad porn sites hitting 20six! At least it makes a change from USA lawyers but, deary me, that’s not what you want when you have to come into work on a Saturday because you need the money (and I fucking need it – these gold top hats don’t clean themselves you know – that’s why I employ Stacy from Eastenders to dress up in uniform (bee keeper) and dust ‘em good and proper) and all I require from the intynet is XFM and the footie scores not granny grumble.
Hurray up Thursday, I need to be paid. i have £10 i can use till I reach my overdraft limit – thought – when when when do we get to clear overdrafts? I haven’t been a student for 5 years and I still bounces around that minus £1600 mark every bloody month… bah!
Comments:
I know, I came online to be greeted with silly porn blogs! Not impressed!
I have decided that it is a wise idea not to increase my overdraft to any more than I have at the moment (£500). I can just about manage a term on that much! Might do it to £600 for my next year as its my last, but we shall see!
Don’t work too hard!
Good work keeping your overdraft to the min!
Temptation got by far the better of me – I didn’t have to pay any Uni fees (except a few retakes), I got a grant (all though it was less than £300 for my three years combined), and I took out 4 student loans. I now live in poverty… but my record collection is top notch and I don’t regret the money invested in large amounts of Gin. I didn’t even get a part time job…
Oh well at least I have my degree (not honours sadly) to keep me warm as i freeze to death doing boring admin work for pennies…
4?? 4?? 4 student loans?! My my, you were tempted!
Ah well, it true, you can always burn the certificate that says you have a degree if things get too bad!
How to dissapear completely… (from 7th Jul 04)

Met up with an old mate for a quick pint in the house of lords (ooo – la dee dah) to discuss possibility of declaring oneself bankrupt. This is not as foolish an idea as it first sounds and has a list of benefits. How many of us look at our student loans and bank loans and credit card bills and overdrafts and etc… We tot up the cost which come to somewhere around -£30,000. This is a lot of money that can now be cleared for the tiny matter of the dreaded blacklist of “BANKRUPTCY” appearing everywhere we go for 5/6 years.
Being bankrupt means you can’t easily open any kind of bank account, get a mortgage, loan, etc.. but seriously who in their 20’s could hope to earn enough to think about a mortgage (in London) until they are in their late 30’s. Bollocks to that.
Apparently you can get declared bankrupt in a day – talk to a judge down the local court and bingo!
However this has become more and more fashionable for the recent Uni leavers and legislation is going to be set in place from this September to safeguard student loans from such practise.
Everyone! Hurry, hurry, hurry!
And if anyone is brave enough to give this a go – or knows someone who has – let us know how it all went because I’m far too scared to go ahead at the minute…
Comment:
I know a few people who did it. And some found that it doesn’t clear your debts forever – it depends on what the courts decide. Two of them found, to their very unpleasant surprise, that outstanding court orders popped their heads up years later when they did have some money (in one case, equity in a property) – and they had to cough up.
As they had incurred the debts in the first place, I can’t say that I was all that sympathetic.
